About Barber Shop Sharp
Kelly Sharp, Proprietor. Co-Founder. Master Barber.
Kelly Sharp purchased the landmark shop in 2010 and naturally renamed it The Barber Sharp.
After a successful, fast-paced career in residential real estate – think Top 100 of the Year Award-- Kelly decided to give it up and go back to school to learn how to cut hair, combining her nurturing personal style, creative sensibilities, and love of community.
Kelly’s fascination with essential oils began 20 years ago while working at the Aveda Corporation headquarters. Embracing Horst Rechelbacher’s progressive philosophy on the environment, and immersing herself in the language and lifestyle of organic beauty products, Kelly has been a passionate advocate of the mood changing, restorative properties of essential oils ever since.
Kelly continues to practice the tried and true methods for clean shaves, hair trimming, moustache styling and beard shaping established by her predecessors over a century ago when barbershop grooming was de rigueur.
Kathleen Schubert, Proprietor. Co-Founder. Product Formulator.
An ardent believer in the power of plants, Kathleen joined forces with Kelly Sharp in early 2015 to create the Barber Shop Sharp men’s grooming product company.
Kathleen’s varied career has been inspired by her keen interest in health, clean foods, fashion and lifestyle trends.
Recently, while living and traveling throughout Europe, Kathleen studied the health benefits of natural botanicals for hair and skin. She worked for an organic raw foods company in Dublin and cultivated the art of mixing carrier plant and seed oils.
Earlier in her career, Kathleen created an upscale women’s boutique that garnered attention from Mademoiselle and Vogue magazines, and operated her own popular catering company in the Twin Cities.
Kathleen’s passion for healthy, beautiful food paired with her keen interest in skin care and organic beauty products give her uncommon insight into the complex art of mixing essential oils for therapeutic benefits.
Today, Kelly and Kathleen and The Barber Sharp, are committed to playing an active role in the vibrant Noreast neighborhood – home to the largest Art Crawl in the Nation in 2015, an impressive line-up of award-winning eateries, galleries, and boutiques, and nationally recognized micro-brewery scene.
